New Museum Exhibit – Tactile Layout of Vilnius

Energy and Technology Museum exposition was supplemented by a new exhibit – tactile layout of Vilnius for the blind and partially sighted. It was recreated by photogrammetry and 3D printed.

This tactile exhibit is a copy of the model of the Vilnius City Master Plan, created 1980. The copy is printer with 3D printer in order to introduce visually impaired museum visitors to the vision of Vilnius in 2000, as it was seen in 1980. The project was partially implemented.

The construction of the original model was supervised by the architect Augis Gečas. By touching the exhibit you can hear audio recordings, which tell stories about different districts of Vilnius and the model itself.

Exhibit production was funded by the Vilnius City Municipality.
